The name, Dogwood, comes from the name of a tool. Its earliest known use was a dag or dagge (from the Celtic/Old Gaelic, daga, a pointed tool). Daggewood could be fashioned into any of various pointed tools from leather punches to meat skewers.

NEWS! Fall Equinox 2005 I am pleased to announce the formation of the Dogwood Protogrove, RDNA in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. The Dogwood Protogrove is pleased to have nine Members and among them are one First Order and two Second Orders. The First Order and the two Second Orders were pleased to receive their orders from Mike Scharding, Digitalis Grove AD, on Lughnasadh, August 7, 2005. The ceremony was very moving and was witnessed by the First Order's daughter, Robyn. Robyn was quite quiet and enthralled with the ceremony and this led to her being extremely well behaved for a two-year old. The conversation and fellowship after was welcoming and Dogwood Proto-Grove members look forward to visiting with Mike in the DC area again sometime in the near future.
